July 20, 2026, Bad Windsheim Town Hall

Bad Windsheim Market Square & Old Town are very worth seeing and at the Market Square you will find a great ice cream parlor with really delicious ice cream. I recommend Mozart & Tiramisu. :-)

The war memorial, erected by the city of Windsheim in 1928, is quite impressive with its so-called Roland figure.

After the great city fire of 1730, the small city-republic of Windsheim once again demonstrated its self-confidence by building a large and magnificent government building, the town hall. It truly resembles a princely palace.

The Windsheim "Roland" war memorial was erected in 1928 as a memorial made of shell limestone. The figure alone is 8 meters high, while the entire column reaches a height of 11 meters. The sculpture depicts a knight holding a sword in both hands, its point resting on the ground. The Windsheim coat of arms is incorporated into the armor on the right side. A later added plaque commemorates the fallen of World War II. The left side of the canopy bears the inscription "To the Living as a Reminder." https://www.bad-windsheim.de/stadt-mit-tradition/die-altstadt/rundgang/windsheimer-roland

It was built around 1400 by the Teutonic Order. The former relic bust of St. Ursula in the church's choir dates back to the early 15th century. A carved head of John the Baptist above the sacristy door also dates back to the 15th century.
