Great spot right on the Selenter See. When it's windy, the waves roll right up to the wooden deck – almost a bit of Baltic Sea feeling in the middle of the country.

The fishermen's huts at Schönberger Strand are among the highlights of our Baltic Sea coast. The freshly landed fish are fried in large iron pans right before the guests' eyes and sold with beer. Fresh fish and other smoked specialties for those who prefer to cook for themselves can also be purchased directly on the beach. With a magnificent view of the Baltic Sea, you can sit right on the dike and enjoy the scenery while you eat.

The lake's shores, some of which are protected, are breeding grounds for many bird species. Regular breeding birds include white-tailed eagles, bitterns, marsh harriers, goldeneyes, red-crested pochards, teals, tufted ducks, mallards, coots[3], mute swans, Egyptian geese, greylag goose, Canada goose, great reed warblers, marsh warblers, sedge warblers, reed warblers, great crested grebes, herring gulls, black-headed gulls, and cuckoos. The lake is also an important moulting site for tufted ducks. A natural spectacle regularly observed in autumn is flocks of starlings, sometimes numbering in the tens of thousands, which, after spectacular flight maneuvers, seek roosting grounds in the lake's reed belt. Another natural spectacle, this time in winter, is the incursion of sometimes thousands of cormorants, especially during periods of marginal ice formation on the nearby Baltic Sea coast.

A nice place to take a drink break. Wonderful view of the lake.

Good asphalt, little traffic. In the south, continue east along the lake towards Selent. On nice weekends it's very busy, so I'd continue south and then east in Martensrade. Avoid the B202, it's very busy, noisy and has a bad cycle path. The small side roads are all easy to ride, so you don't have to bother with the main road. In the north, everything is easy to ride, I'd just avoid the L211.
