In 1752 Salchendorf burned down except for a few houses. Johann Georg Henrich's house on what is now Hindenburgplatz was also burned. Bricks and other building stones were not yet available in the local valleys at that time; Oak wood was rare. Johann Georg Henrichs bought Pastor Dietz's probably empty house in Emmerichenhain near Rennerod. After careful demolition and laborious transport with horse and ox carts from the Westerwald to Salchendorf, it was rebuilt in 1755 on the remaining foundations of the burnt down house. The local history association acquired the building in 2001 and carefully restored it. Source: https://www.siegen-wittgenstein.info/de/poi/geschichte-staette/haus-henrichs/15857898/

Jan Hendrik van Kinsbergen, Earl of Doggersbank (May 1, 1735 in Doesburg – May 22, 1819 in Apeldoorn) was a Dutch admiral. His father Johann Henrich Ginsberg was born on January 7, 1706 in Salchendorf near Siegen in Nassau and emigrated to the Netherlands to become a soldier. The municipality of Salchendorf named a street after him in honor of Kinsbergen and erected a memorial stone in the center of the village. Source: Wikipedia
