The first church in Feucht - probably made of wood - was consecrated in 1190 by Bishop Otto von Eichstätt. The later choir tower church made of stone probably dates from the 14th century. According to a report by the royal building inspector Erdinger, the church was too small for the people of Feucht in 1839, no longer up to date and in urgent need of renovation (significant structural defects). The old church was valued so little - apart from the tower and choir - that in 1846 it was decided to demolish the Gothic nave. This also destroyed art objects such as colorful glass windows with coats of arms of patrician families. Work on the new building began in 1848, and the newly built church was consecrated on November 24, 1850 by Altdorf Dean Esper.

Feuchter Forst is generally dog-friendly, and many families enjoy hiking with their canine companions. However, please be aware that the Schwarzach Gorge is a nature reserve where specific rules might apply. Always keep dogs on a leash, especially in protected areas, and ensure you clean up after them to preserve the natural environment for everyone.
Spring, summer, and autumn are all wonderful for family hikes in Feuchter Forst. Spring brings fresh greenery, summer offers warm weather for longer outings, and autumn provides stunning foliage. The Schwarzach Gorge is particularly beautiful year-round, but sturdy shoes are always recommended due to potentially damp or rocky sections.
The family-friendly hikes vary in length and duration to suit different family needs. For family hikes in Feuchter Forst, especially when exploring the Schwarzach Gorge, sturdy, closed-toe shoes with good grip are highly recommended due to rocky and potentially slippery sections. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing is also advisable, and it's always a good idea to bring layers, water, and snacks.
While many forest paths in Feuchter Forst might be accessible, the more adventurous sections, particularly within the Schwarzach Gorge, are not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs due to rocky terrain, steps, and narrow passages. For families with very young children, a baby carrier is a better option for exploring the gorge. We recommend checking individual route details for specific accessibility information.
