The mill is now only vaguely recognizable as such. Nevertheless, a charming private home has been created from it.

This beautiful grazing tree stands in the juniper heath in the Loosen Mountains. A relic from an earlier time and great to look at!

It is hard to tell that this section of the line between Schermbeck and Drevenack was once part of the Hamburg-Venlo line. Wikipedia: "The village was accessible via the Drevenack station, which opened in 1874, on the Haltern-Venlo railway line (part of the Hamburg-Venlo railway) from Wesel to Haltern am See. The last passenger train ran in 1960, and the station was closed to freight traffic in 1974." Today it is a beautiful forest hiking and cycling path.

Because they will soon no longer exist in this form. At the moment everything is rotting and is being overgrown by holly, broom, blackberries. There used to be sheep in the enclosure that kept things in order. It's a shame but there's no money for that.

With this memorial stone, the town of Hünxe commemorates a murder that claimed the lives of 10 prisoners of war and forced laborers. “On September 11, 1944, two young women and eight men were executed at this spot, far from their Ukrainian and Russian homeland, as a result of tyranny and war,” is written on a plaque attached to the stone. The second sentence reads: “The memory of this event gives rise to an obligation for us to protect the rights and dignity of all people.” Inscription on the metal plate. Even today, the quiet Krudenburg still exudes a touch of bygone times, which is partly due to the remains of the historic Krudenburg castle house. A two-story tower remains today from the former castle complex from the 14th century.
