There is a baroque tower on the east side. The church was renovated in 1990 and received a new Rieger organ in 1993.

It is the core of a Romanesque hall church from the 12th century, with a Baroque nave, late Gothic chancel and a Baroque east tower, which received a new helmet in 1880. After the church had suffered war damage in 1477 and at the beginning of the Thirty Years' War in 1619 and 1621, the nave was rebuilt between 1628 and 1631. The flat ceiling of the hall room was only drawn in in 1907. The presbytery and the southern part with the Gothic portal come from the second half of the 15th century. Attached to the south side is a square, ribbed vaulted room, the former Johannes chapel, which was converted into a sacristy.
