At the instigation of Mr. Ing. Alfred Elbs, this wayside cross with the icon of St. Joseph (by Schartlmüller) was erected in August 2014. On the feast of St. Joseph, March 19, 2015, the wayside cross was blessed.

Between 1433 and 1455, construction began on a larger church to replace the Romanesque parish church. Beautiful defensive wall with the St. Michael's Chapel, and to the side is the sacristan's house, which used to be a school.

Dedicated to Archangel Michael, the church was officially consecrated and founded as a parish in 1032 with Bishop Berengar von Passau. In 1065 the parish was part of the Archdiocese of Bamberg. In 1443 the church was continued as a fortified church with a charter. Bamberg's patronage ended in 1803.

Originally, there was a house on this site, but its foundations were damaged during construction work on the main square, causing it to collapse. Since it was never rebuilt, the main square was enlarged to include this area and, with the addition of the fountain, also made more attractive.
