An inconspicuous hiking trail leads from the church to the small chapel.

Our Austrian Archduke Johann called this church a little treasure chest when he visited Altenburg around 1850. The former parish church of Windhaag near Perg on the site of the old castle was begun in 1309. It was rebuilt around 1512 and 1540. The church is built in a simple Gothic style and dedicated to St. Bartholomew the Apostle. Under the Anna Chapel there is a crypt for the Counts of Windhaag. It was rediscovered in 1907 and was filled with 12 rotten wooden coffins. It is decorated with well-preserved frescoes. The pictures show the Last Judgement, Christ on the Cross, Saints Andrew, Bartholomew, Pantaleon and Christopher, and two coats of arms. The bones were buried in the ossuary.

The castle was lovingly reconstructed and partially rebuilt in 25,000 hours of work. The staircase in the tower is certainly very laborious and expensive for visitors to the castle. The castle is located along the castle hiking trail and the Enzmilner hiking trail.

Due to its size, the parish church is also called a hall church.

Not far from the church is the Calvary Chapel.

The church was built in 1309 and dedicated to the apostle Bartholomew. To visit the church, you can pick up the key from the house next door - it's worth it.
