The ship "Regentag" in Tulln is a historic wooden sailing ship from 1910, which the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser transformed into a floating work of art and living studio, where he lived and worked for ten years. It is permanently moored in the Tulln guest harbor (Danube promenade / Nibelungenplatz) as a protected monument and belongs to the Hundertwasser Foundation. [tulln +1]

The "Regentag" is an art and residential ship designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Originally built in 1910 as the motor vessel "San Giuseppe T," it served to transport salt and sand. In 1968, Hundertwasser acquired the boat, which was moored in Palermo, and had it extensively rebuilt by the mid-1970s: the hull was lengthened, two masts were added, and the entire superstructure was redesigned according to his artistic style. For about a decade, the ship became Hundertwasser's floating home and studio, profoundly influencing his life and work. In 1975/76, the "Regentag" embarked on an eighteen-month sea voyage across the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Pacific Ocean to New Zealand, where it was later used for many years. After Hundertwasser's death, the ship returned to Europe in 2004 and has since been moored in the Tulln an der Donau marina, where it has become a prominent cultural landmark of the city. Since 2015, the "Regentag" has been a listed building, underwent extensive restoration in the years leading up to 2024, and can now be viewed from the outside at any time; access to the interior is only possible as part of guided tours, which may be cancelled in bad weather for safety reasons. The "Regentag" is thus considered an important testament to Hundertwasser's life and an exceptional work of art with high cultural and historical value.
