Originally, Weißenberg Castle stood on this site. The conversion of the castle into a palace began between 1517 and 1575 under Volker von Volkensdorff. Under Hans Caspar von Volkenstorff, the present Renaissance-style palace was built in front of the old castle. In the 18th century, it passed to the Kremsmünster Abbey. In 1803, Kremsmünster's Abbot Alexander had the old castle, including its fortifications and the Chapel of the Ascension, demolished and a new palace wing built. In the 20th century, several owners followed suit until the Kuthy family acquired the palace from bankruptcy in 1970 and restored it to perfection. Today, it is primarily used for residential purposes and cultural events. Apart from exhibition openings and other cultural events, the palace can only be viewed from the outside.

The castle is surrounded by a pond on all four sides. A stone bridge with a Nepomuk statue leads to the castle. A projecting corner turret can be seen at one corner. The back is surmounted by a mighty tower with an onion roof. There are open arcades with granite columns on both the ground floor and first floor. To the left of the tower there is an open terrace with a granite balustrade on the first floor. There are a number of stone figures in the surrounding castle park
