You can take a very nice walk along the Erft.

Documented in 1273 as part of the holdings of the Counts of Kessel, the history of the mill complex, which included an oil and grain mill, can be traced back to the High Middle Ages. The mill has been owned by the Kamper family since 1873.

The weir is located on the Erft River in Grevenbroich-Kapellen and is part of the "An der schwarzen Brücke" nature reserve. It divides the river into a main channel and a side channel (Mühlenerft), thus ensuring a regulated water level. The weir has been renovated in recent years to restore its function and safeguard the water flow. It is an important component of the nature reserve because it diverts a portion of the Erft into oxbow lakes, which are crucial for nature conservation.

There are many bridges spanning the Erft River. The Erft is a 106.6 km long, southwestern, left tributary of the Rhine. It flows through three districts and their respective district capitals; downstream, these are: Euskirchen district with Euskirchen, Rhein-Erft district with Bergheim, and Rhein-Kreis Neuss district with Neuss in North Rhine-Westphalia. Its course and water flow have been altered numerous times since the Middle Ages. See: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erft
