The vintage fire engine group of the Heppenheim-Mitte Volunteer Fire Department has dedicated itself to preserving old fire engines. Under their late, much too soon deceased, "commander" Rudolf Kohl, the 30 members invest countless hours in restoring the vehicles. The oldest model, a pumper truck, extinguished its first fires in the early 1930s.
