Olivier Rapin
February 20, 2025, Southwest Shore of Lake Murten at Salavaux

We started the walk from the Salavaux village hall and followed the Broye towards the lake. Then we joined the edge of the lake to follow it for one or two kilometers and ended up returning by the Vita trail. A great walk that we like to do out of season.

Beautiful path along the water that turns into a real jungle path in summer. Here you can observe ducks, dragonflies and other animals.

The Théâtre romain du Selley in Avenches is a remarkable Roman theater that was part of the ancient city of Aventicum. Built in the 1st century AD, the theater could accommodate up to 8,000 spectators and served as a venue for theatrical performances, gladiator fights and other public events. Today, the well-preserved ruins of the theater are a fascinating historical monument that attracts visitors from all over the world. With its imposing architecture and rich history, the Roman Theater is an important part of Avenches' cultural heritage and a symbol of the ancient Roman city's former splendor.

The port of Cudrefin is one of the many small idylls on Lake Neuchâtel. You can walk out onto the lake from the jetty and marvel at the water fountain. A park with a playground on the shore invites you to have a picnic or swim.

The Roman theater was probably built in the 2nd century AD. Today you can tour the historic site and even have a picnic there. Further information at https://www.aventicum.org/de/monumente/theater
