Here you can hear the water rushing! The Hochablass has been damming the Lech since the late Middle Ages and diverting water into the city's canals - a relief for crafts, trades and later industrial enterprises. First mentioned in a document in 1346, the plant was rebuilt in its present location in 1552. The listed reinforced concrete structure received its current form after a flood in 1912. As part of the Augsburg water management system, the Hochablasse has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019.

Ulrichsplatz is located at the southern end of Maximilianstraße in Augsburg's old town and forms an important historical transition between the grand boulevard and the church precinct. The square is dominated by the monumental Basilica of St. Ulrich and Afra, one of the city's most important churches, and the adjacent Protestant St. Ulrich's Church. The square has been documented as an open forecourt of the church since the Middle Ages; at times it was also called Maximiliansplatz. Since 1955, it has once again been called Ulrichsplatz – in memory of St. Ulrich, the patron saint of Augsburg.

The Manzù Fountain is a well-known city fountain on Königsplatz in Augsburg, where it has stood since 1985. It features a bronze sculpture of a young girl, approximately 2.2 meters high, created by the Italian sculptor Giacomo Manzù. She is depicted emerging from the water and is popularly known as the "Chamber Maiden." The fountain was donated by the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Augsburg companies to commemorate the city's 2000th anniversary and has since served as a popular meeting place in the city center. Following a renovation of Königsplatz in the 2010s, the fountain was redesigned and reopened in 2015 with a ground-level water basin and paving.
