De Mosbulten is a water-rich nature reserve in Nuenen that was created around the turn of the millennium as natural compensation for the construction of the A50. • Originally, there were two ponds here in 1830: the Haverven and the Heikantven. • Around 1900, these ponds were reclaimed and drained for agricultural use as wet grassland. • Because the area is about a meter lower than its surroundings, it was less suitable for agriculture. • Around 2000, the area was redesigned as a nature development project, with the ponds and pools being excavated again. • The landscape consists of water-rich pools, swamp forest, and wet grasslands. • At the edge of the area, there is a bird hide for observing water and reed birds. • Various amphibians, butterflies, and dragonflies are found here, and rare plant species have now established themselves. • Hiking routes have been laid out in and around the area (sturdy and waterproof footwear is recommended). •Dogs (even on a leash) are not allowed.

The small St. Antonius Chapel is hidden along a quiet sandy road between forests, fields, and old farms. The current chapel was built in 2007, but is located near the spot where an older St. Anthony's Chapel once stood, which eventually disappeared after severe storm damage in the nineteenth century. The place still has that typical quiet atmosphere of the Brabant countryside. Hikers and cyclists often stop here briefly at the bench or the picnic spot next to the chapel, surrounded by nature and quiet sandy roads. Nearby is the Piet Swinkels Memorial Picnic Place, a simple memorial site that refers to the local history of the region and the war years in this area. Not a grand monument or a busy place, but rather a quiet piece of Brabant where nature, history, and the rural character still come together well.
