This bunker was specially built in 1940 to protect the national art collection from ‘collateral damage’ in the event of a German invasion. The Night Watch was stored in a rolled-up state in this cellar with walls and a roof of 1.5 metres of reinforced concrete. That is hard to imagine, isn’t it?
