Tips from the Community

May 11, 2026, Aueniederung und Nebentäler Nature Reserve

The Auetal is worth a visit....whether on foot or by bike (and it doesn't matter if with natural / chain or hub gears or with an e-bike). Many paths are flat / without significant gradients. I myself have my health limitations and for me these routes are also challenges, but doable....each at their own pace and difficulty level. I even know some who were able to reduce their medication dosage because of it.... So, just be brave and start slowly or increase gradually...many things are doable (perhaps for everyone, but for some).

Ice cream break is mandatory here👏

Here you can find the tastiest ice cream in Stade, which leads to long queues, especially when the weather is good. There are indoor and outdoor seating areas. If you want to enjoy your ice cream outside, however, you will be looking directly at the huge intersection of the B73 and B74 federal highways. There is a lot of traffic here, especially at rush hour, with a corresponding level of noise.

The Aue meanders through the Auetal. In many places, the path runs directly along the floodplain, some bridges cross it. If you take your time, you can discover a lot of nature here and switch off from the hustle and bustle. Several entrances lead to the Auetal nature reserve. Parking lots are easily accessible here and there. Geest ridges limit the elongated valley on both sides. Natural history tours are repeatedly offered in the local press.
