This church in Erle has a patron saint's name that is truly on everyone's lips, but only a few will know the person behind it: Saint Sylvester's commemoration day is December 31st. He lived at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth century and was Bishop of Rome when Emperor Constantine recognized Christianity as a religion with the Edict of Milan - known as the "Edict of Toleration" - and thus ended (at least temporarily) the period of bloody persecution of Christians.

After a long period of military use, this continuous path is a popular route for hikers and cyclists. Numerous warning signs indicate that the asphalted route must not be left under any circumstances due to explosives left behind in the forest and heathland area. In some places you can even enjoy a beautiful view of the area.

Not only Pisa has a leaning tower, but also Borken. The 16 m high Kuhmturm has been leaning up to 60 cm out of alignment for a long time. In the past, there was a grain mill and a tanning mill in front of the Kuhmturm. Tan is a tanning agent that is used to make leather. The Kuhmturm takes its name from the tubs that were found in the street in front of the tower. These were floor tubs lined with oak that were filled with tan. The skins of animals were placed in these tubs until they became leather. https://entdecke.dein-nrw.de/de/dein-nrw/streaming/detail/POI/p_100188504/kuhmturm
