Villa Beauty, also called Villa Johanna, is located near Werder (Havel) train station. The house was once a place where the beauty of man in nature was artistically represented. In 1899, the architect Eduard Schenk built the house on Lake Zernsee and lived there until 1903. Later owners were the Potsdam theater director Friedrich Zschiegner and the writer Karl Vanselow. The latter was the editor of the magazine “Die Beauty”, which gave the villa its name. The newspaper was about nurturing everything that makes life beautiful and sunny. The focus was also on the beauty of the body. Vanselow used the villa's garden to take nude photos of young girls. Numerous artists came and went here. In 1918 Dr. Josef B. Schneider took over the villa and ran his “Art, Culture, Sexual Literature Bookstore” here for just four years. The house was already empty in 1928. Later, a meeting place for students would be created here.
