Schapp u. die Kegelrobbe🏃🦭🌲🌞🇩🇪
June 7, 2025, Gubin Town Hall

The town hall was built in 1502 from a Gothic predecessor and rebuilt in the Renaissance style around 1672. The three gables that still exist today were added at that time. In 1924 a restaurant opened on the ground floor. In the vaulted rooms of the town hall cellar there is still a restaurant serving regional food. The Second World War did not spare the town hall either. The building was badly damaged and its reconstruction took almost 10 years. Since 1986 the town and community library and the Gubin cultural centre with an events hall have been located here. The town and main church is still a ruin but reconstruction is clearly taking shape. At least the church tower is accessible again. Signs indicate when the climb is possible.

The city and main church was destroyed during the fighting for the Neisse town from February to April 1945. Since then, its walls and tower have risen into the sky as ruins. It thus shared the fate of the churches along the Oder-Neisse border.

The church impresses with its architectural simplicity, both inside and out. The history of the church and the lives of its patrons and donors persuade with the simple motto, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

The Neisse promenade offers a quiet place to linger and relax along the river. Here you can take a break, sit down and enjoy an ice cream while looking out over the water and nature. The promenade is popular with hikers and invites you to leave the stress of everyday life behind for a few minutes and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. An ideal stopover on a tour along the Neisse.

The old port of Guben was brought back to life in 2014 and is now an idyllic place to linger. A historic trolley invites you to take a leisurely break or have a picnic. The elevated warehouse and the long edge of the port are reminiscent of the times when ships docked here until the beginning of the 20th century. A replica of an old mooring brings the history of the port to life. Located directly on the Oder-Neisse cycle path, the port offers an interesting stopover for cyclists and walkers.
