Between March and October, scheduled trips are offered several times a day with the ships "Luise" and "Freiherr von Münchhausen II". The journey begins here at the landing stage in the lower harbor of the Old Ship Lift, near the entrance to the over 400-year-old Finow Canal. After the lift has been completed, the ship turns around in the upper harbor area and returns to the starting point after the downward journey. The main ticket office of SHW Fahrgastschifffahrt can be found in the tourist information office in the power house. Source and online tickets: https://www.schifffahrt-niederfinow.de/

The Liepe lock is a technical cultural monument and an attraction on the Finow Canal. It was first built in 1767, received its current form in 1874, making it one of the oldest surviving lock facilities in the region. To this day, the lock is operated by hand, a sight that brings technological history to life. Visitors can witness how the heavy gates slowly open and close, and how ships overcome a height difference of 2.40 m. In 1912, the upper and lower gates were renewed. In the following decades, further adjustments were made: in 1952, a weir was installed, and in 2004, a flap weir was rebuilt in the former southern lock. The Liepe lock is the last lock before the mouth of the Finow Canal into the Oder-Havel Canal, thus marking the transition between the two waterways. From the Liepe lock, the Niederfinow ship lifts are reachable on foot.

Some comments here describe the small bridge that leads directly over the lock a few meters further on. This wooden bridge here is absolutely level and can possibly even be ridden over. It leads over the outflow from the Schützenwehr (formerly the southern lock basin).

It's a very beautiful, easy hike, but more like a walk. It was an experience to get to know this beautiful area. Suitable for all ages, including children.

Pushing an e-bike up a sloping staircase isn't easy. Even with push assistance, it's best to do it with two people.
