Nice cafe, conveniently placed at the top of the gravel climb up from the Grand Union Canal! Indoor space isn't huge but there's plenty of outdoor seating.

Been past it a few times just lately (late 2023) and it appears to be closed permanently.

Northampton's first and only floating restaurant! 'Commissioned' for build by Jack Patel in 2006, the boat was completed and moored at its current location in 2014. The boat covers 2 decks, has a licenced bar, vegan cafe, customer toilets on board and can be hired for events, wedding receptions, etc. and has become a bit of a Northampton landmark. https://www.thearknorthampton.com/

Very interesting place with fantastic ground works all the way round.

Hunsbury Hill proper is little hard to find as it's surrounded by dense trees and shrubs on all sides, but keep following the paths and you will eventually see the unmistakable remnants of the deep ditch that surrounds the central open area. The iron age hill fort has seen its fair share of damage and looting over the past 200 years but is now designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument and plays host to Viking re-enactments during the summer. I have purchased a few hand carved items from the small but well organised group.

The building in the photographs is the Water Tower, built in 1678 by William Thursby to contain a pumping system to take water to the manor house.

A huge park just outside the centre of town, wide paths, small lakes and ponds, tree lined avenues and wide open grassed areas make this ideal for a fun afternoon with the family. If the kids get bored of exploring maybe a few minutes in the children's play area will liven them up (or tire them out).
