I'm sure it was once a nice castle but no longer visible.

Here are the remains of the Keil Hotel, an imposing five storey Art Deco building. During World War II, the hotel was used as a hospital. The large white painted frontage of the building served as a useful navigational aid to shipping and aircraft, as the outbreak of war had seen the country's lighthouses extinguished as a security measure. Although the lights were normally kept dark, they could still be activated on special occasions in order to guide Atlantic convoys. After the war, the hotel reopened around 1947, but by 1990 the business had collapsed. The proprietors ripped out the plumbing and electrics and sold them off, leaving large holes in the walls and ceilings. It finally closed in October 1990.

Once the site of an 8th century stronghold castle, the only thing that remains is the big rock that it stood on. There's a new lifeboat shed in the bay now, but the rock itself is impressive enough to warrant a stop off.

Keil Caves are a series of interesting caves at the southern end of Kintyre which you can explore. Although itβs hard to imagine these days, the caves were inhabited by people for many centuries. Nearby, you find St Columba's Chapel, St Columba's Well and St Columba's Footprints, footprints carved in rock to mark where Columba β who brought Christianity to Scotland β first landed.
