Avenue of the 100-year-olds The "Avenue of the Centenarians" was founded in 2005 by the then mayor Wolfgang Gerstner. Since then, all Sigmaringen residents who celebrate their 100th birthday have had a fruit tree planted in the avenue by the city. The people celebrating their 100th birthday are almost always present and sometimes relatives help plant the tree. So that each tree can be identified, there is a plaque in front of each tree with the name of the person to whom it was dedicated and the date of the 100th birthday. The Wildpark Josefslust is an extensive nature park criss-crossed by a 35-kilometer network of paths. It can be entered by anyone free of charge for the purpose of recreation at any time and anywhere. Main entrance The main entrance to the wildlife park is on the road between Krauchenwies and Sigmaringen. After crossing the road, you get from the forest car park to the main entrance, an ivy-covered gateway in the east of the wildlife park. The heavy iron gate is framed by two pillars. Cast-iron red deer sculptures are enthroned on them, a twelve-pointer on the right and a fourteen-pointer on the left. Until 2010, the Josefslust wildlife park had partly large-scale show enclosures with game from the local animal world: wild boar, red deer and fallow deer. A 2.5 kilometer circular trail led to the enclosures for red and fallow deer until 2010. The largest enclosure had an area of three hectares. Furthermore, Josefslust is characterized by a wide forest area with many very old trees, some of which are under nature protection, several romantic lakes, sculptures and some hidden old gates. There is also a barbecue area. Old cast-iron signposts show hikers the way. The park is owned by the Princely House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. Source: WIKIPEDIA
