History The Falkenhain church on the edge of the Wermsdorf Forest was built in the 12th or 13th century in the Romanesque style. In 1550, Heinrich Truchseß added a church tower to it. This was demolished in 1708 under Collator Rudolf Heinrich von Lüttichau when the church was converted into a hall church, which was in fact a new building of the church at his own expense. In 1873 and 1874, another extensive renovation took place, redesigning the interior, enlarging the church windows and building the gallery. In the 1980s, during the GDR era, the church was renovated, and - as it turned out in 2017 - a highly toxic wood preservative was used, which is why the church had to be closed.
