The goose girl at the Gänsemarkt (also called Gänseliesel) was installed in 1982. It is a multi-part bronze sculpture by Frauke Wehberg that shows an older woman wearing a headscarf and apron. She is currently feeding two geese at her feet. For years there was only one goose because the second one was stolen. However, it was reconstructed again in 2016 and has since completed the ensemble again. In July 2021, the free-standing goose was stolen again despite being permanently installed and anti-theft. The Gänseliesl or Goose Girl is at the Gänsemarkt. Once with 2 geese. The free-standing goose has now been stolen for the second time, despite being well secured! There was a "citizens' request" because the Gänseliesl was installed with a view of the Commerzbank and not with a view of the pond. But that was corrected. The “Gänsemarkt” square has an eventful history and has been redesigned many times. Today the Holstengalerie shopping arcade is located there.
