A mill was first documented on this site as early as 1530, and it survived the centuries. In 1928, at the initiative of a pastor, it was converted into a children's home for homeless children, which continued to operate until after German reunification and was most recently run by Caritas. The property was no longer economically viable and has since fallen into disrepair, becoming a "lost place"—a real shame.

We were genuinely delighted to see that at least one of the old mills in the Trebnitz Valley has been restored. The simple yet beautifully renovated grounds, complete with a pool, fountain, pond, barbecue area, sauna, and magnificent rhododendron bushes, can accommodate up to 30 people. https://trebnitzmuehle.de/
