De artE de pORtas abERtas (art of open doors) is an artistic project on Madeira that was started by some artists led by Jose Maria Montero Zyberchema. ArtE de pORtas abERtas is carried out in Rua Santa Maria in the old town of Funchal, a dilapidated street with many vacant houses and storage rooms, and consists of painting old doors by the artists. Thanks to this project, the street has come back to life. Terraces have emerged and a number of restaurants and art galleries have settled in the buildings. The municipality of Funchal became interested and provided the paint for the artworks. In 2010, the first results were visible. Since then, more and more doors have turned into a painting. The street is now a tourist attraction.
