The Amtshaus Themar on the Schuhmarkt is a historic building from 1665. It is considered one of the most beautiful and important half-timbered houses of Henneberg-Franconian architecture in the region. The striking house has an L-shape and dominates the square in the old town of Themar. The building was rebuilt in 1665 after the Thirty Years' War. It has two large floors with visible half-timbering. The house has a high gable roof and ornate architectural decorations. It is considered an architectural highlight directly on the market square. In the past, the tourist information office was also located here, but it has since moved to the nearby town hall. Today, the distinctive building primarily serves as a historic city and photo motif.
