The park is only a few hundred meters from the city center. I was amazed at the size and spaciousness of the park. There is a lot to discover: the Georgium Castle, the Ionic Temple, the guest house, the "Roman ruins" and two replicas of ancient archways. I also really liked the ponds. You should plan enough time if you want to visit the park. There are numerous benches and rest areas where you can take a break.

During the redesign, the lake was divided into different areas. A small part was redesigned as a natural swimming pool.

A beautiful park to linger in. Sometimes it's quite wild...

When the future of the Großkühnauer Badeanstalten is being discussed in the large council chamber, it is certainly helpful for the elected city councilors to make a decision once again about the historical significance of this outdoor pool located in the north-west of Dessau. With the beginning of the bathing season in 1930, the city of Dessau opened a new lido in the oldest part of the city, Großkühnau, which had been incorporated since 1923 and was first mentioned in a document on May 1, 945. Picturesquely located on the shore of Lake Kühnauer See, the view of the village, castle and church opens up, which widens in visual relation to the western part of the historic Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm. An extremely attractive idyll when the lake is adorned with white and yellow water lilies in summer and the beautiful specimens of bald cypresses greet you from the opposite bank. The Middle Elbe between Mulde and Saale is a nature reserve in the urban district of Dessau-Roßlau, in the town of Aken in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district and in the town of Barby in the Salzland district. The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0394 is approximately 8,507 hectares in size. It largely overlaps with the EU bird sanctuary "Middle Elbe including Steckby-Lödderitzer Forst" and the FFH areas "Kühnauer Heide and Elbaue between Aken and Dessau". It also includes part of the FFH area "Saaleaue near Groß Rosenburg" and a small part of the FFH area "Elbaue between the mouth of the Saale and Magdeburg". The FFH area "Elbaue Steckby-Lödderitz" completely overlaps with the nature reserve. The previous nature reserves "Steckby-Lödderitzer Forst" and "Saalberghau" as well as parts of the landscape protection area "Middle Elbe" have opened up in the area. The nature reserve is mostly surrounded by the “Middle Elbe” landscape protection area. The area has been under nature protection since December 21, 2018. The responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the city of Dessau-Roßlau and the districts of Anhalt-Bitterfeld and Salzlandkreis. (Source: Wikipedia)

A long time ago, the Elbe ran here. Much later it was integrated as a lake into the Kühnauer Park, which is now part of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm.

The Tiergarten is located on the right bank of the Mulde, directly opposite Dessau city centre. Not to be confused with the zoo. Animals are kept in enclosures in the zoo in Dessau-Ziebigk. There are no enclosures in the Tiergarten. But there are still animals. That is why part of the zoo is also a nature reserve. Originally, the zoo was the hunting ground of the Dessau princes. Hence the name. Today it is a piece of nature. The main entrance to the Tiergarten is formed by the eye-catching Tiergarten Bridge, popularly known as the "egg cutter". Why? Because the bridge looks the same. https://www.sachsen-anhalt-lese.de/wandern/oertlichen
