Even in midsummer you should still be able to find a parking space for a car.

Isternäset NR is an old nature reserve and shelter of various biotopes with varied avifauna of the Kristianstad region as the main town of Vattenrike. In spring, a regular visit to the viewing platform newly created in 2021 is worthwhile as long as the landscape in question carries a lot of water. Plenty of migrating waterfowl! Bring binoculars! Unfortunately, there is much less to see here in autumn.

Located directly on the country road, I couldn't find a stop off the roadside (?). But maybe I overlooked it. In any case, the board with explanations is right on the country road. The grass had grown quite tall. Made the impression of a fenced meadow with a pile of stones in it for me.

Restored burial area from the Nordic Bronze Age (around 1400-1000 BC). The tomb with a stately diameter of 75m was used as a quarry for local construction work until 1748. From 1931 to 1933 there was a thorough excavation, which also found the remains of a Stone Age settlement under the hill, as well as large amounts of flint debris. Only teeth, bronze fragments and bone splinters were found from the Bronze Age. After the excavation, the grave was restored, but it is not known to what extent the restoration corresponds to the original condition. A comparison with contemporary graves suggests that the facility should be three times as high as the current 3.5 m. In 2021 the facility will be closed for restoration work. www.kiviksgraven.se

If you find yourself in the south of Sweden, between Kristianstad and Hässleholm and pass the rural village of Åraslöv, it might be worth a few minutes of your time to stop at the iron age grave field Stainabjär, meaning mountain of stone, to soak up what civilisation that made its home here 5000 years ago. There are currently about 79 raised stones at the site, centric around 3 grave ships
