The Chevin Descent to Milford

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This is a really fun and fast blast with some great rocky features. Best on a mountain bike, but can also be fun on a gravel bike too, if you're happy to take it a bit steadier!

This is really great loose rocky descent down to Ashover Road named Longwalls Lane.

Enjoy some mega big rocky features and a few drops, so prepare to have fun!

It certainly makes for a challenging technical climb too.

Brackley Gate Woods

Highlight • Trail

Great place to walk the dogs and for them to explore, can sometimes get busy with mountain bikes at the weekend but they are generally respectful....the woods back onto Breadsall Priory golf course where there is a footpath across to the road.

Alvaston Park

Highlight • Lake

Alvaston Park features a lovely lake with its own island, a trail that boasts over 20 exotic trees, a superb BMX track and a science garden. Covering 85 acres (34 ha), it is a great place for an evening stroll and is just a short walk from Derby's city centre. The park has proudly secured Green Flag Award status for several years.

Morley Downhill Trails

Highlight • Climb

Lot's of downhill trails, some super tech free ride lines with big jumps and features so recommend this area more to the experienced rider. There are a couple of mellow trails that are good fun but can change frequently due to the trail fairies being busy there so watch out for new features and gaps! I'd recommend a nice track walk before heading down if you're new to the area. There are push up trails to get back up (the hill is fairly step) or an optional climb up and around the woods back to the top if you want to get a pedal in. Oh and full face helmet highly recommended!

Go easy on a gravel bike, in the dark, when you don't know the trails!

'Private land' signage all around but there are paths all over and nobody taking much notice of the warnings - least of all the BMX riders pelting down the hillside.

"The Chevin" including Jacksons Lane this is a mile and a half of downhill action, past the Golf Course and getting steeper all the time

"Technical climb" = technical carry. Don't bother trying to get up this on anything but a mountain goat.

But don't bother going up it unless you like pushing

A great area. Somewhere I should ride more often than I do (pretty much on my doorstep). I go up from what used to be the HSBC in Duffield, Approach Hazlewood and get into the Chevin that way.
