Casa Fantini Trail

Highlight • Trail

Casa Fantini is the point of arrival (or departure) of a path that leads near the cave and then climbs to rejoin the Via di Gaibola. Doing it uphill is for hikers, even with the e-bike it is certainly challenging and probably requires you to go down and push in a few stretches. In any case, the best of himself is given in descent starting from via di Gaibola (there are tracks in some laps that I have saved and which have the name "Fantini" in the description).
Immediately after the downhill start there is a climb that is quite technical and above all muddy if it has rained. After the descent it is technical and fast, in particular high enough there is a very steep but short descent on the ground to be faced with attention to the weights (out of the saddle) and where I suggest to give up. The descent alternates on the ground and on gypsum rock, but there is no shortage of roots .... in short, forget to sit on the saddle!
Arriving at a sharp bend (there the path forks and I believe that part of it heads towards Via dell'Eremo), a second, even more technical stretch begins, where in particular about halfway down the descent there is a small drop if you holds the right and must be tackled by further lightening the front if you go slow, otherwise you fly it. At the end of the path, keep to the left that goes towards the Fantini house, because on the right the road is closed by a chain ..... before reaching the house there is a series of well-spaced steps to go out of the saddle and enjoyable for those who it has a cushioned bi ... otherwise keep the left to the side of the steps.
I do not recommend doing it after it has rained and if you see that there are muddy areas in the surroundings, it is guaranteed that you will find it there too and it will not be much fun if you do not have soft tires that are also suitable for muddy terrain. Beware of hikers, at least the three times I have done the path I have always met them in several places!

Macaco Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

What can I say, a discovery and a pleasant surprise. On the recommendation of a Komoot user, I walked this path that starts from the 7 traverses as soon as the ground has dried. A nice technical alternative to get to via di Gaibola via via dell'Eremo ... not before completing the MACACO trail though. At the beginning, this path can be pedaled and without any difficulty, beyond a small bridge that you just need to look ahead and do it easily. Then towards the middle begins the more technical but always accessible section, with steep descents and ascents. Definitely to do in view of the summer since it is immersed in the bush.

You can go as far as Castelguelfo. Then from there the bank is lost. Net resumes from Sesto Imolese. If the grass has been cut, you will reach Campotto.

Monte Mario Downhill Loop

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

It is a very interesting route, which winds through a cool and shady forest, which alternates steep parts with rocks and some roots, sometimes pedaled up and down. Depending on the speed with which you decide to tackle it, it can be a beautiful forest path suitable for all bikes, or a mixed modern XC trail. Having reached a crossroads, just beyond the halfway point, you can choose whether to go up on the left to rejoin the Via degli Dei, or go down on the right to cross "the fairy forest" (muddy in winter), as it is usually defined, and then emerge on the aforementioned Via degli Dei further east, or continue the descent on the path known as "Il filo di Arianna". A Monte Mario classic, always interesting.

Bregoli Enduro DH Middle Trail

as said by @matte_esse the descent is very steep, you need to have good driving techniques and above all I recommend it to those who have an all mountain bike, no front because there are jumps and walls that scare you!

fairly technical segment, be careful on the last part very hard to not jump off the bike and do it walking

Tip by

A classic when the ground is dry. The first stretch is on the grass along a field after which you can give up (but beware of some transversal ditches). Then the path becomes narrow and more and more sloping. Unfortunately it is heavily carved and being on the edge requires technique. On the other hand, if by chance you are wrong and there is mud, the channel "guides" you. However, to do when it is dry and beware that there may be pedestrians or mtb going up (even if it is rare)

Update June 25. The route is no longer practicable, the trees on the ground, the uneven ground from the bulldozers have made the route practically impossible. I don't know if it is feasible from Castel San Pietro, but not from Castel Guelfo

Done yesterday, the route from Castel Guelfo to Castel San Pietro is about 8km all up and down with curves, super beautiful and fun!! The passage over the stream is doable as long as you have neoprene shoes to walk with dry feet and then continue. Halfway after passing under the highway bridge, towards Castel San Pietro there is a tree that blocks the path, but you can get around it on foot by passing a bit in the woods. Overall the route is clean and doable even with a bit of mud after a rain
