In his tip for the Gibbon Village Hall, tcbscott noted paintings where windows should be and wondered what the purpose of the building is now. Curious myself about the windows and the current purpose of this building. I chatted with Gemini AI for answers. The historic Gibbon Village Hall was vacated in the mid-70s when the administrative offices moved to a bank downtown, and the fire department relocated from the basement to a new purpose-built building right next door. The historic Village Hall is now largely vacant, with all doors and windows filled in to weatherproof the structure. The window panels have been painted with murals depicting early village life. The hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, recognizing its fortress-like architectural style, rare among rural civic buildings

A small county park with a big campground! The campground and park just have pit toilets and porta-potties, but there is a lot of land to spread out. Picnic tables and firepits and dispersed about the campground.
