On the way to the lost place. There will soon be a way inside. Unfortunately, I was a bit too early.

Baron Julius von Braun, the starost of Gierdawski County, married to Klara von Belov, née von Borcke, began renovating the estate before World War I. Strongly fascinated by medieval monastic architecture, he decided to build Malbork. Designed by Paul Engler, the complex, including a residential building, was one of Prussia's most interesting architectural concepts. It features a well-preserved entrance gate and three towers, one of which served as a cold storage/icehouse, the other as a water tower with a water tank. The entire project was cost-prohibitive beyond the baron's capabilities, and in 1930 the estate was auctioned off, and some of the buildings, including the residential building, were demolished. Currently, the property is owned by Mr. Wiśniewski (owner of WIPASZ).

The castle in Barciany is an impressive example of Gothic Teutonic architecture from the 14th century, located on a small hill surrounded by former marshes. Although it lacks tall towers, it has retained its massive shape and defensive character, making it an interesting testimony to the evolution of monastic castles. After the war, it served economic functions and is currently closed to visitors, although its silhouette can be admired from the outside. The castle is easy to reach by bike, it is worth planning a short stop here for photos and to learn the history of the place.

The Palace and Park Complex in Łężany is under the care of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. The Palace in Łężany was built in the years 1909-1911 at the initiative of Rear Admiral Reinhold Fischer. The Fischer family acquired the estate in Łężany in 1872. After World War II, the Employee Holiday Fund was established in the palace, and then in 1957 it was transferred together with the entire farm to the Higher School of Agriculture in Olsztyn. Since then, the farm has been an experimental base for the Olsztyn university. In the 1990s, the entire farm was leased by a private person. Since 2003, the university has taken over its care again, which after transformations became the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.
