In autumn, the waterfall appears less impressive, but the gorge and the stream valley are easy to hike; surefootedness is required.

The car can be parked at the edge of the asphalt, narrow road. A short steep climb to the right of the waterfall provides enjoyable views of the falls. The trail markers lead back to the road.

A beautiful waterfall in a cascade of waterfalls. Although the place can be approached in a few minutes from the nearby road from the lower side, the best impression is when descending from the hill. The trail follows a stream that gradually grows and finally reaches a waterfall under which you can rest and enjoy.

The most picturesque waterfall in the Samobor hills is located in the canyon of Javorački potok and for a long time it was hidden from the view of local mountaineers who stumbled upon it in 1927, after returning from a trip to Japetić. Hidden in the woods, separated from the world by recently difficult roads, its noise is heard before reaching a notch down which flows a beautiful 10-meter waterfall. It is especially beautiful in spring and autumn, when the stream is rich in water, while in summer it can dry out. Until 2016, hiking to Cerinski vir required a bit more effort from mountaineers and hikers than is the case with other valuable Samobor excursion locations, but since 2016 the road to the waterfall is much more accessible thanks to the efforts of HPD Sveti Patrik members. After arranging a mountain lodge on Cerina, they cleaned part of the Javorec stream, cleared part of the trail, set up two bridges over the stream and enabled everyone who is ready for a small forest adventure to easily reach the foot of the waterfall and enjoy another pearl of Samobor hills.

Zagreb County offers several picturesque waterfalls. The Cerinski Vir Waterfall in the Samobor hills is considered one of the most beautiful, with a 10-meter drop in a secluded canyon. Another stunning option is the Brisalo Waterfall in the Slapnica stream canyon, known for its natural amphitheater and often forming a small lake at its base.
The waterfalls in Zagreb County are generally most impressive after heavy rains, during spring, or in autumn. This is when streams are rich in water, ensuring the cascades are at their fullest. Some waterfalls, like Cerinski Vir and the Sopot Waterfall on Medvednica, can sometimes dry up in summer.
Yes, the Sopot Waterfall on Medvednica Mountain is the tallest on Medvednica, plunging an impressive nine meters. Another notable waterfall is the Sopot Waterfall in the Žumberak hill range (near Sošice), which is one of the highest in Croatia, divided into three cascades with a total height of 40 meters, and even powers a water mill.
Around the waterfalls in Zagreb County, you'll find lush forests, deep gorges, and unique geological formations. Many waterfalls, such as Vranjački Waterfall and Brisalo Waterfall, feature tufa formations, moss-covered rocks, and ferns. Some even have small caves, like the Vranjak Cave at the base of Vranjački Waterfall.

While many waterfalls are well-known, some offer a more secluded experience. The Cerinski Vir Waterfall in the Samobor hills was relatively inaccessible until recently, offering a sense of discovery. The Sopotnjak Waterfall, a smaller cascade on the Jaska hiking trail, also provides a peaceful spot away from larger crowds.
Visitors appreciate the refreshing escapes and scenic beauty offered by the waterfalls. Many enjoy the peaceful and wild atmosphere, especially at places like the Sopot Waterfall on Medvednica. The opportunity to reconnect with nature and take a break from daily life in serene settings, often featuring tufa rock and lush greenery, is a common highlight.
Accessibility varies. Some waterfalls, like Brisalo Waterfall, have relatively easier paths leading upstream. Others, such as the Sopot Waterfall on Medvednica, might involve steep and slippery sections, especially when scrambling down to the base. The Sopot Waterfall in Žumberak also has a somewhat steep path. Generally, surefootedness is recommended, particularly after rain.
While specific 'family-friendly' categories aren't always listed, many waterfalls offer enjoyable experiences for families who are comfortable with light hiking. The improved path to Cerinski Vir Waterfall, with its bridges over the stream, makes it more accessible for a small forest adventure. Always check the specific trail conditions and difficulty before heading out with children.
