Šija Summit

Highlight • Summit

Mount Šija is a neighbor of the Vogel, which gives the ski resort and cable car their names. Of course, the slopes and cable cars are not a pretty sight. But in summer you can easily drive close to the ridge. From the mountain station of the chairlift it is still about 160 m and a good half hour to the very promising summit (view of the Triglav massif, and in the south you can see far towards the Adriatic Sea). We recommend a ridge hike from Šija to Vogel or in the other direction to Rodica Mountain.

Great views of the Triglav and not too difficult in terms of fitness. Due to the stony soil, however, a bit demanding, because high concentration is required. The most beautiful part is the tightrope walk between Šija and Vogel.

Rodica (1966 m)

Highlight • Summit

Rodica is the second highest peak in the eastern part of the Lower Bohinj Mountains (the highest is the eastern neighbor Veliki Raskovec, 1967 m). From the Ski Hotel on Vogel it looks like a beautifully designed pyramid. On the northern side lies a wavy plateau, overgrown with dwarf pine, between the Suha and Poljana mountains, and further towards the Bohinj valley, forested slopes fall. The southern slopes are steep, partly grassy slopes, partly precipice walls, especially in the ridge east of Rodica with the peak Novi vrh or Suha Rodica (1944 m). In the lower part of the southern slope there is a sunny terrace with clustered villages Grant (735 m) and Rut (671 m) and meadows and fields around them. On the south side of the terrace is the deep Baška gorge, above it rises Porezen.

From Rodica there is a beautiful view on all sides, especially of Julijce with Triglav, the Bohinj valley, the ridge of the Lower Bohinj mountains to the west and east, and the deep valleys on the south side.

At the top is a box with a registration book and a stamp! PD Bohinjska Bistrica.

The Soriška planina above Bohinjska Bistrica offers winter skiing in the beautifully regulated Istrian ski slopes. In the warmer part of the year, the mountain invites us into its barges with the possibility of walking along the surrounding viewpoints, which form the amphitheater around the ski slope. Excursions can be adapted to our own desires and abilities. Suitable for families with children.
On the described circular path, where we will visit all the nearby peaks, we will have wonderful views, as will the historical enthusiasts come to our expense, as this is where you went through. The Rapallo border from the time between the two world wars, the rest of which are considerable and are well preserved.
The starting point of the route is the parking lot along the lower part of the ski slopes, where there are inns where there is a culinary offer and accommodation facilities. Open to guests throughout the year.

Možic is a 1602 m high peak located west of Soriška planina. Right at the highest point of the summit is an old military bunker on which is written the name of the summit with height. From the top, which also has an entry box and a stamp, we have a beautiful view of the chain of the Lower Bohinj Mountains, Lake Bohinj, Triglav lies like in the palm of your hand, part of the Karavanke, Ratitovec, Blegoš and Porezno.

Even in the fog, it was a great experience. We'd love to enjoy the view of Triglav again sometime, without the wall of fog in front of us 😅

Very good views, but also very busy. Sometimes overcrowded. It's worth coming early.

The area is exceptionally beautiful during late winter and early spring. However, due to deep and soft snow conditions, snowshoes are essential. It is also an excellent location for ski touring.
