The church owes its current spacious shape to an extension of the previous Baroque church in the mid-19th century. In the 16th century, the village of Wawrzyniec belonged to Spytek Jordan from Zakliczyn. In 1581, his heirs, his daughter Anna and her husband Kacper Zebrzydowski, built a small wooden church. The parish was founded in 1618 and fell under the patronage of the noble church. In 1665, Kacper Sierakowski, a great-grandson of Wawrzyniec Spytek Jordan, had a brick Baroque church built and equipped, which was consecrated in 1668 by the Kraków Suffragan Bishop Mikołaj Oborski. The church was expanded between 1841 and 1843. A bell tower was added and a new roof was created. The church was consecrated by the Dean of Maków Podhalański, Father Marcin Leśniak. After reconstruction in 1848, it was consecrated by Bishop Grzegorz Józef Wojtarowicz from Tarnów. During the First World War, Austro-Hungarian troops confiscated the church bells from 1678, 1732 and 1858. The Germans stole the rest in 1941. The brick church is covered with sheet steel and surrounded by a wall.
