May 7, 2025, Saukko-oja Waterfall (Mammutti)

This waterfall, about 8 meters high, is located along the Saukkovaaran trail, in the middle of a protected forest area. The water cascades powerfully down a steep rock face and spreads out like a white fan over the rocks. The waterfall is most impressive at higher water levels, but even without much water, it's still a stunning sight.

Stunning river scenery awaits in the summer months for those who run through the gorge here. In winter, the frozen waterfalls, such as nearby Mammuttiputous (Mammoth Fall), make for great ice climbing venues.
