Elma Depot Museum

Highlight • Historical Site

The Elma Depot Museum, located at 319 Oak Street, is a restored 1901 Chicago Great Western Railway depot. The museum houses a collection of railroad memorabilia, but the outdoor display is what most visitors notice first. It typically features a classic red caboose that sits on a segment of track outside the depot, and various signals and maintenance-of-way tools are displayed around the grounds.

This is the southern terminus of the Wapsi–Great Western Line Trail. As far as I know, there are no plans to extend the trail farther south. This contrasts with plans for the northern terminus of the WGWL, which include extending the trail north to connect with the Shooting Star Trail in Minnesota.

It's the Finish Line! Nice end to the WAPSI trail. In Elma, Iowa. Nice little rest area here with some benches, paintings, and sculptures. And it has a small town.
