The area is relatively small, but a person can still go 8 to 10 miles with the spiderweb of trails. Bring water and snacks.

Despite the rain, this quick hike was wonderful. Putney Woods is one of my favorite places to hike. Despite being next to moderately traveled roads, you still get a sense of being miles away from civilization. I would say the best part is the most of the trails are named after famous books like Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre.

Both parks offer beautiful trails with views of Puget Sound, and they are connected by a one-mile trail. Camano Island State Park's trails often run along forested bluffs with access down to rocky beaches. Cama Beach Historical State Park features trails that weave through the forest and around the historic beachfront cabins, such as the Cranberry Lake loop.
Yes, the park has 6,700 feet of rocky shoreline perfect for beachcombing and hiking. Some trails, like the popular Cama Beach State Park loop, include sections that descend from the bluffs to the beach, allowing you to experience both the forest and the shore in one hike.
The park is a great place for wildlife viewing. In the forests, you might spot deer, rabbits, and various birds. Along the shoreline and from the viewpoints, keep an eye out for marine life in Puget Sound, which can include harbor seals, porpoises, and occasionally orcas or gray whales.

For a day hike, we recommend bringing water, snacks, and wearing sturdy walking shoes as the beaches are rocky. The weather can change quickly, so packing layers and a waterproof jacket is wise. Since many trails are on bluffs, a pair of binoculars can be great for spotting wildlife in the Sound.
