Bessaker is a small, quiet fishing village on the north coast of the Fosen peninsula in Central Norway (Trøndelag county, Åfjord municipality) and is considered a true paradise for sea anglers. Offshore islands and skerries protect the harbor from the rough sea and make the area safe. The small village has just under 200 inhabitants. There is a supermarket, a gas station, a restaurant, Rorbuer, and a lovingly designed village center by the harbor. Since 2022, the newly built Vettan staircase leads up to Bessakers' 145 m high local mountain and attracts tourists.

The Vettan Trappa was only established in 2022 and leads up to the 145 m high Vettan, Bessaker's local mountain. Only the entrance stairs are steep; afterwards, it's more of a leisurely walk on quite flat steps, interrupted by several continuous boardwalk sections. The view is magnificent from the start and naturally improves towards the summit. Once at the top, a fantastic panorama awaits, stretching over the coast and the offshore islands from Flatanger in the north to Frøya in the south. Out at sea, many skerries also appear, or just white wave crests marking "shoals". Directly on the summit plateau, there are still remnants of German occupation facilities from the Second World War.
