Here you can enjoy wonderful views over the dramatic and rugged coastline near Eldern Point in North Devon. Eldern Point is infamous because on January 22, 1943, an American Airforce Liberator (B-24D) crashed here due to bad weather and poor visibility. The entire crew was killed, and the deceased were initially believed to have died in operations over Germany. In 1948, seven of the aircrew were returned to the USA, while the remaining three were reburied in the Cambridge American Cemetery.
