Much of the wood is coppice, though occasionally you might find a defiant oak or beech standing proud. 300 acres (121 ha) of the wood is a military training area and is signposted as such. No live ammunition is used but the site is sometimes used in helicopter landing exercises.

Wrotham sits on the Pilgrim's Way has has many large and historic houses. There are also three nice pubs that are worth a visit if you are ever walking the North Downs Way.
