The Hald Egeskov (Oak Forest) is Denmark's largest forest stand of old Danish oaks, and has always belonged to Hald Hovedgaard (manor house). Many trees are over 300 years old. All oak trees remain standing until they fall on their own due to old age or decay. Many, partly rare, beetle species live in the fallen tree trunks. The oak trees in the Hald area are used today for further breeding. In good years, several tons of acorns are collected, which are then planted throughout Jutland.
