In the period 1181-1214, Tannenfeld was first documented as "Tanniveld". In 1790, the so-called "Kavaliershaus" was built, which was later named "Tannegg". In 1794, Johann Friedrich von Medem acquired the Löbichau manor for his sister, Anna-Dorothea von Kurland, to which Tannenfeld also belonged. In 1800, the late Baroque palace was extended with a landscape park in the English style. In 1899, Dr. Arthur Tecklenburg acquired the Tannenfeld estate to establish a private healing and care facility for the mentally and nervously ill. In 1951, the Tannenfeld facility continued to be used as a specialized hospital for psychiatry and neurology until 1985. From 2011 onwards, the buildings in Tannenfeld have been permanently empty and have been temporarily used as a film set, for example for the feature film "Das Mädchen und der Tod". On 14.09.2017, the castle and park complex was sold to an investor group for a purchase price of 280,000 euros.
