The local fire departments of Wüstenselbitz and Burkersreuth merged in 2019 and moved into a modern shared equipment house 5 years later. The historic bell is symbolic of the independent history of the former village fire department. The bell was used to sound the alarm in the past.

Its name has nothing to do with a bridge, but comes from "Bruch", which means a moor or swamp overgrown with bushes. The "Pruckleynsteich" was already mentioned in documents in 1419. Its actual age probably dates back to the Franconian period and is closely related to the Carolingian military road. Therefore, the Brücklasteich is likely the oldest artificially created pond in the region.
