One of the lesser-known highlights in the Vorarlberg Oberland. Built 100 years ago as a wooden path through the rock face of the Frödisch Gorge, it was reactivated a few years ago by a dedicated group from Dafins.

Parish Church, St. Joseph, Dafins The history of the parish church of St. Joseph 1916: The church bells had to be handed over (World War I). 1917: During World War I, the nave was completely demolished and rebuilt. It was enlarged from 54 square meters to 123 square meters. The sacristy was also slightly expanded and the tower was raised to a height of 29 meters. Procuring the building materials and skilled workers as well as financing posed major problems for those responsible. The new building was financed largely through inheritances, community contributions and donations. The builder was Hilti from Feldkirch. 1918: On October 1, 1918, the new parish church was inaugurated by Vicar General and Auxiliary Bishop Dr. Sigismund Waitz. During this time, Gottfried Reis was pastor in Dafins. By 1925, under Pastor Liberat Greißing, the interior of the parish church was redesigned: new organ (Albert Mayer, Feldkirch), new clock (Johann Mannhardt, Munich), new steel bells (Gebrüder Böhler, Kapfenberg), new high altar with tabernacle and new side altars (Johann Georg Bachmann, Muntlix), painting and wall and ceiling paintings (Anton Marte, Schnifis). 1967: Renewal of the war memorial on the south side Text / Source: Mr. Parish Provost Mag.
