The church took its name from Aleksey Petrovic Grebenschikov, a wealthy merchant who supported the congregation. Today, it is the world's largest Old Believers' congregation with around 25,000 members. The building is designed in a Byzantine style, with the tower showing an Art Nouveau influence with its distinctive golden dome, added in 1906. Inside is a large collection of icons and manuscripts from the 15th to 19th centuries, underscoring the spiritual and cultural value of this place.

The grounds are well maintained, and in addition to the manor house there are a few pretty outbuildings that enhance the authentic flair.
