In the middle of Park Güell is the large esplanade, which in the original plans was called the Greek Theatre and was later renamed Plaça de la Natura (Nature Square). Its original name comes from the fact that it was planned for large open-air performances that could be followed from the surrounding terraces. Although Gaudí always respected the topography, this large square is artificially created. Part of it is carved out of the rock, the other part rests on the Hypostyle Hall. Towards the staircase side, it is bordered by the curved bench covered with tile mosaics, designed by Josep M. Jujol, which serves as a balustrade. Towards the mountain side, it borders a retaining wall with large, palm-shaped capitals. https://parkguell-barcelona.translate.goog/en/park-guell/emblematic-features/greek-theatre?_x_tr_sl=en&_x_tr_tl=de&_x_tr_hl=de&_x_tr_pto=sc

On the east side of the square at the Greek Theatre, there is an original iron door that leads to the former gardens of Casa Larrard, the former manor house that Güell made his residence and which has served as a school since 1931. The path, which runs slightly higher than the house, passes through a pine grove. The portico borders a retaining wall of rough stone. It has the shape of a large wave resting on sloping columns and is supported by a double colonnade. It is one of the most beautiful examples of the organic architecture that Gaudí pioneered. The same meaning, expressed both structurally and aesthetically, is found in the spiral ramp that leads visitors down to the house at the end of the path.
